Executive Dysfunction in Adolescent with Obesity: A Systematic Review

Obesity has been linked to low cognitive performance throughout the human life span. Alterations relate attention, memory, language, and executive function. However, obesity-executive function association remains unclear in adolescents. This study presents a systematic review of alterations adolescents with obesity. A search equation was proposed (Executive dysfunction AND Adolescents), sixty studies meeting inclusion criteria Clarivate Analytics Web Science Core Collection database. bibliometric analysis conducted identify importance research topic citation network built establish lines research. Finally, exported Gephi visualize groups studying topic. Findings suggest 4 research: (a) structural functional brain abnormalities obesity, (b) inhibitory control (c) effects physical activity on (d) working memory Obese were found prefer immediate rewards long-term ones. Nevertheless, effective interventions increase intake fruit vegetables reduce that calorie-dense food.
